Between plains and valleys, the Gavarres Massif rises as a landscape apart. Located to the north of the Catalan Coastal Range, it spans the regions of El Baix Empordà and El Gironès, standing out as a rare geological formation. To the north lies Empordà, to the south the Aro Valley, and to the southwest the plains of La Selva, while its eastern slopes stretch nearly to the Mediterranean.
